The electrolysis procedure is the insertion of a very fine probe (which is about the same size, or smaller, than the hair being treated) into the natural opening of the hair folicle alongside the hair shaft. This does not causepin, or discomfort. A small amount of electrial current is then applied to destroy the hair growth cells.  This curent causes a very brief sensation of heat, after which the hair is removed.

Are all hairs eliminated in one treatment, or is regrowth to be expected?  

Hairs have differing cycles of growth, many of which are not visible on the sruface of the skin at the same time. The folicle produces the hair from the blood supply, and discards it eventually through shedding.

The process of growth, rest, and resplacement, are known as the hair growth cycle. Since individual hairs are in different phases of the cycle at any given time, multiple treatments may be required to remove unwanted hair.
